Their joint effort seeks to locate, evaluate, and collectively create initiatives in Southeast Asia and the Middle East that can utilize and amalgamate at least one million tonnes of biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. This CO2 will be employed at AM Green's facilities to produce sustainable fuels. These environmentally friendly fuels will serve as a feasible substitute for fossil fuels, assisting in reducing carbon emissions from heavy industrial operations and the aviation sector.Additionally, Keppel and Greenko will explore potential collaborative opportunities within the bio-methanol initiative's value chain in India. The primary aim of this project is to produce an annual output of 500,000 tonnes of bio-methanol. Biofuels, derived from natural sources such as plant and animal biomass, represent the largest sector within the global renewable energy landscape. They contribute 55 percent to renewable energy production and account for over 6 percent of the world's total energy supply. The production and utilization of sustainable fuels play a substantial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, making them highly efficient and cleaner energy alternatives.Keppel currently oversees a substantial Anaerobic Digestion and Composting Plant in Qatar with an annual capacity of 273,750 tonnes, established by Keppel in 2012. Recognized as the world's largest composting facility, it has the capability to generate approximately 110,000 cubic meters of biogas daily. This biogas is converted into environmentally friendly electricity used internally and exported to the grid. Keppel is also actively evaluating the feasibility of industrial carbon capture for waste-to-energy facilities in Singapore and the United Kingdom. Ms. Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel's Infrastructure Division, emphasized the importance of biofuels in the journey toward decarbonizing industrial operations and the aviation sector. By leveraging Keppel's expertise in managing domestic waste, organic feedstock, and efficient carbon cycling, the partnership with AM Green aims to propel the development of next-generation biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel within the region.
