Can you provide a summary of your professional history and accomplishments?
I began my professional journey in the market research industry in 2003, starting at Research International, which is now part of Kantar. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with various well-known companies in this field. These include Millward Brown, also a part of Kantar, as well as Kadence International, Spire Research, Mitsubishi UFJ Research, and BDRC Asia, and Northstar Research from the UK. Each of these multinational research agencies provided valuable learning opportunities that eventually led me to co-found Clove Research and Marketing Analytics with my partner, who previously held the role of Analytics Director at Nielsen. Along the way, I have had the chance to support numerous reputable companies such as Nestle, Google, Danone, Mitsubishi, KFC, and many others.
Can you describe the opportunities and experiences you gained from UGM University and how they shaped your career?
I enrolled at the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Indonesia in 2010. During my time there, I focused on studying entrepreneurship and management, and the lessons I learned have had a lasting impact on my career. The knowledge I gained from UGM has been incredibly valuable in my current position as a leader within a company. Through my studies, I developed a deep understanding of various aspects of business, including financial management, operations, company management, legal matters, and other essential elements necessary for running a successful organization. Most importantly, I have been able to successfully apply the knowledge I acquired during my college years to my current endeavors, allowing me to navigate the challenges of my professional role with confidence and competence.

While intuition and instinct are valuable, I believe that combining them with data leads to a more effective strategy. When I first established Clove, I conducted internal research to gain a deeper understanding of the potential market. This research provided valuable insights that were translated into our long-term vision and mission for the next decade. Additionally, historical data enables us to make predictions about future events. By adopting this approach, we have consistently exceeded our annual targets and have even thrived despite the challenging circumstances brought about by the pandemic, for which we are truly grateful.
Tell us about your approach to cultivating a culture of continuous learning within your team. How do you provide training and development opportunities for your employees?
We establish clear job descriptions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that each team member is appropriately placed in their role. Additionally, we have developed a comprehensive training program that incorporates weekly, monthly, and full-day training sessions. A fundamental principle that I consistently emphasize is that "It's acceptable to make mistakes, but honesty is indispensable." We view mistakes as valuable learning experiences, as long as there is a genuine commitment to learn from them. By fostering a positive work environment that encourages the development of good character, we create training and development opportunities that contribute not only to the company's progress but also to the personal growth of our employees.
What milestones do you envision for yourself and your organization in the upcoming years?
In the coming years, I envision a path of continuous improvement and innovation for our operations. Over the past five years, we have built a solid reputation through positive word-of-mouth referrals.
