ByteDance Aims 20 Percent Revenue Growth this Year

imgDespite a possible global economic slowdown, ByteDance is aiming for revenue growth of roughly 20 percent in 2025, a rate of growth that might enable it to catch up to Meta Platforms' global operations.

The owner of TikTok anticipates that sales would rise from US$155 billion in 2024 to about US$186 billion. That would bring the Chinese Internet giant to within a hair's breadth of Meta's estimated $187 billion in revenue this year, capping years of growth of 20+.

In line with Meta, ByteDance currently reports that its suite of apps has over four billion monthly active users.

Since the Biden administration spearheaded an attempt to bar the Chinese-owned social media phenomenon from the US because of national security concerns, TikTok's meteoric rise has come under scrutiny.

In response, Trump is allowing ByteDance more time to finalize a sale agreement for TikTok, a months-long process that has already attracted attention from companies like Oracle and Amazon.com.

As TikTok grows internationally, ByteDance's overseas business has flourished despite the possibility of a US ban.

Although its goal growth rate for 2025 is just lower than last year's 29 percent, it could change as executives gain a better understanding of the company.

Last year, the corporation was revalued to over $400 billion by SoftBank Group's Vision Fund, partly due to its expanding position in generative artificial intelligence.

According to reports, ByteDance has also been marked up by Fidelity Investments and T Rowe Price Group, which have valued it at over US$410 billion and US$450 billion, respectively.

However, the startup's overall growth slowed significantly from 2023.

Douyin, its major Chinese video platform, is struggling in the second-largest economy in the world due to declining consumption and advertising investment.

In the meantime, TikTok, a nearly exact copy of its Chinese twin, has assumed a greater portion of the responsibility for topline development.
