US President Donald Trump Signs $1.2 Trillion Economic Pact With Qatar

In preparation for a broader $1.2 trillion economic pact with the Gulf state, the White House said President Donald Trump signed agreements with Qatar totaling more than $243.5 billion. The agreements range from energy and aviation to quantum technologies and defense. It is anticipated that the sale of Boeing-GE Aerospace to Qatar Airways, which is Boeing's largest-ever widebody order, will sustain more than 1 million US jobs and strengthen strategic ties between the two nations.
The historic agreements commemorated today will propel innovation and prosperity for centuries to come, strengthen American leadership in industry and technology, and set the country up for a new Golden Age.
The United States' success is being aided by allies such as Qatar.
Boeing and GE Aerospace have secured a significant $96 billion agreement with Qatar Airways. Up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft built in the United States and equipped with GE Aerospace engines will be purchased by the airline.
This is Boeing's greatest order for a widebody aircraft and its largest order for the 787 type. Over 1 million jobs in the US will be supported by this historic arrangement during its production and delivery, with 154,000 employment supported annually.
Through the Joint Venture, Qatar will invest up to $1 billion in workforce development and cutting-edge quantum technology.
"Today's signings mark President Trump's intent to accelerate Qatar's defence investment in the US-Qatar security partnership--enhancing regional deterrence and benefiting the US industrial base. The defence deals secured today lock in Qatar's procurement of state-of-the-art military equipment from two leading US defence companies," the White House added.
Trump made the remarks during his second stop in the Middle East, which is centered on closing deals and increasing investment, in Qatar.
