Mark Melgar completed his bachelor's degree in Nursing and took some master's degree units in Nursing Administration from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. He began his nursing career at a hospital, where he gained exposure to various diseases in the healthcare industry. After working for some time, he realized the importance of raising awareness about preventable diseases through vaccination. This realization led him to establish his own company, widely known as Vaccines and Vaccination Services, with the goal of educating people about vaccine-preventable diseases. Tell us about your learning experiences in the university. What are the times have you found these learnings beneficial to your career so far?

My time at the university posed challenges as we delved into studying various diseases and illnesses. However, the knowledge and skills acquired during that period have proven invaluable in our business. They have enabled me to effectively communicate preventive measures to patients. Throughout our university journey, we had the privilege of visiting hospitals, where we witnessed firsthand the illnesses we had been learning about. Additionally, our studies included a subject on Community Health Nursing, which deepened our understanding of the vital role vaccination plays in society. Moreover, the university played a significant role in enhancing my decisionmaking and intellectual abilities, which have been instrumental in selecting and implementing the use of appropriate health interventions within the company.

Define Vaccines and Vaccination Services as a revolutionary nationwide online vaccination service provider in the healthcare industry.

The motivation for adopting an online approach to our services is rooted in our commitment to providing seamless care and convenience to the public. Our decision to go online proved particularly crucial during the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus. By transitioning all our services online, we eliminated the need for physical contact with potentially contaminated surfaces, effectively reducing the risk of viral transmission. This groundbreaking shift in our industry revolutionized the way we operate and significantly simplified processes for individuals, making access to our services more convenient than ever before.

What factors do you take into account when developing effective corporate growth strategies and what are the best industry practices have you implemented to help your team draw valuable insights from the market to ensure the company stays afloat and steady among its competitors?

We prioritize strict adherence to the country's guidelines and ensure that all our implemented processes comply with the legal requirements. We hold licenses from respected regulatory bodies, including the Food and Drug Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Department of Health. This ensures that every aspect of our operations aligns with the laws of the country. Our track record speaks for itself, as we have never encountered any adverse situations, serving as evidence of our diligent adherence to protocols set by various government agencies.

However, we do encounter the challenge of vaccination fatigue in certain markets. Nevertheless, in many markets, people possess a strong awareness of the crucial role vaccination plays in disease prevention.

My advice to leaders is to continuously promote our work to the public, emphasizing the importance of vaccinations in averting future pandemics. It is paramount to prioritize the health and needs of our patients, creating a robust and healthy ecosystem.

Where do you see yourself headed in the upcoming years? What is your future roadmap?

I will persist in my journey, empathizing with patients to better understand their needs and fulfill them accordingly. Additionally, as there is still reluctance among people to get vaccinated, I am committed to reaching a wider audience and spreading awareness about the importance of vaccination. Our objective is to disseminate knowledge and awareness in even the most remote areas of the Philippines, ensuring that a maximum number of people benefit from our services.
