Past era has proved to be an era of change for almost all verticals of global technologies. The most recent years have seen an exponential growth in the development and adoption of new technologies. Amongst others, digitalization is the need of the hour. This was realized by Yadvinder Singh ‘Yuvi’, Founder and CEO of Yellowstone XP. YellowStone is a First Digital BPO of Myanmar based out of Yangon, Myanmar that aims to combine deep industry knowledge with technology and business expertise to cocreate innovative, digital- led transformational solutions.

In an indepth conversation with CEO Insights magazine, Yuvi shares with us his professional journey and the various lessons he has gathered along the way. Here are some excerpts from the conversation.

Tell us about your professional background and What inspired you to establish Yellow Stone.

After finishing my PGDCA, I started my first job in 1998 as a data entry operator at HP gas agency. The first project at that job was Digital Transformation and this happened even before any of the LPG gas agencies in India were digital, they would make bookings over phone calls with manual records. We digitalized all the customer base data in Chandigarh Zone, India using software provided by Hindustan Petroleum (HP) and since then until now, I have been involved in multiple projects at a local, and domestic in India and as well as at the international level. Most of my professional journey right now revolves around digital transformation.

Yadvinder Singh 'Yuvi', Founder & CEO

YellowStone was set up to add my contribution to make Myanmar a digital country and we are happy to be a part of this journey from day one. We started YellowStone as a Digital BPO and are certified by ISO 27001: 2013 and till now are the only Digital BPO in Myanmar that is handling Maximum projects in collaboration with domestic, NGO sector and private sector for digital transformation. We have multiple projects where we are digitalizing Myanmar through conversion of data of KYC for multiple domains line Telecom, Insurance, Banking & Fintech etc.

Yellowstone is in the process of expanding its business footprints by launching its quality services with competitive cost globally

Tell us about your flagship offerings and what are the value additions that customers can expect from your services and solutions?

We are a process-oriented company and are ISO  27001:2013 and ISO 9001:2015 certified. We focus on providing Data privacy as we are into KYC data, insurance company data, and banking data. We are also committed to providing quality services within the set timeline. The team is mostly Burmese and are fresh graduates and we guide them to enable efficient communication with clients. As an organization, we have grown from a nine-member team to having five hundred members in the company in two offices in Myanmar.

What are some of the challenges that you have encountered in you long professional journey and also tell us about your leadership approach, and methodologies you follow to lead your team.

Yes, I have come across many challenges in my twentyseven yearlong professional journeys. In Myanmar, the main challenge for me was the language barrier so. I had to learn Burmese to be able to communicate with the local team. Second Challenge was difference in work challenge, which here is only 9-5 office hour but as a BPO we need to perform 24*7 for clients and consumers. Over the period of time, we were able to guide the team to the routine and demand of the team. My mantra is, ‘Learn Together, Work Together and Grow Together.’ Everyone on the team should learn from one another, only then can we grow towards our goal. My leadership approach includes Trust, Transparency and Teamwork, as I am open to my team about the gain and loss of business and clients. I stay closer to my work place so I can be available to my team 24*7.

Going forward, what are the changes in market behavior that you anticipate and what are the opportunities that you foresee?

I see a lot of opportunities in Myanmar because there is lack of digitalization as of now and we are just getting started in that direction. We have immense chances of reforms in government sector, electricity, transportation, National Data Base and education etc. We are advising people to have patience and put strategies forward to support the government and private sector so that we can reach a good level of digitalization in Myanmar.

In the light of your strong experience within the industry, what advice would you give to the budding industry leaders?

My advice to young leaders and upcoming entrepreneurs would be to develop any service or product which the local community cab benefit from through job opportunities. It helps with professional and financial growth. We need to Act locally & Think globally and also keep patience according to the growth of the country. Surely altogether with our efforts we will be the part of the development.
