Could you tell us about your professional journey and what motivates your daily routines?

My professional journey began with a graduation from the University of Baghdad's College of Engineering in 2013, followed by five years at the international construction company, Harlow International in Baghdad, Iraq. I started as a site engineer and evolved rapidly, eventually becoming a Certified Project Manager from PMI (Project Management Institute) in 2017. Throughout this period, I effectively managed more than ten projects, each of which had a cumulative value in the millions of dollars. In 2018, I joined Zain Iraq, a telecommunications leader, where I progressed from an efficiency specialist to Head of Building and Operation for the Facility Management Unit, overseeing multi-million-dollar projects. Later, I co-founded a construction company - Khatawaat Engineering in Iraq, focusing on innovation and automation, a first in the region. My motivation throughout this journey has been a relentless pursuit of excellence and the opportunity to drive transformative change.

Share with us your academic experience from Baghdad Iraq. What did you learn from the campus beyond academics?

My academic journey at the University of Baghdad's College of Civil Engineering began in 2009 and culminated with my graduation in 2013. These years were marked by not only academic challenges but also the harsh realities of Iraq's security situation, including bombings and violence. Despite these adversities, my peers and I remained resolute in our pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence.

After graduating in 2013, I continued to broaden my professional horizons by earning my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2017 and my Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification in 2019. I actively participated in training sessions, instructing junior project managers, and co-authoring business development and skills manuals for fresh graduates. These publications, released in Iraq two years ago, underscore our dedication to equipping the workforce with skills for a more efficient and professional approach to their careers. My academic journey in Baghdad was not just an education; it was also a crucible that forged resilience and a strong desire to share knowledge with others.

As the Managing Director, what are the factors you look into when developing effective corporate growth strategies?

As the Managing Director, my foremost consideration in developing effective corporate growth strategies centers on our most valuable assets: our people. Nurturing our employees, and fostering their comfort, motivation, and happiness is paramount. I see my core responsibility as ensuring the well-being and growth of our team, creating an environment where they can flourish. Considering your strong professional experience within the industry, what would be your advice to budding industry leaders?

With substantial industry experience, my advice to budding leaders is to cultivate patience and resilience. Obstacles are inevitable, but treat them as challenges to overcome, not roadblocks.
