Similarweb data shows that during the past 28 days, ChatGPT received 4.786 billion page views, whereas social media company X received 4.028 billion page views.

Over the past four months, ChatGPT has steadily increased its advantage over X.

OpenAI has not taken any chances and has introduced one AI feature after another to maintain ChatGPT's position as the leading contender in the AI race after being alarmed by the introduction of China's DeepSeek AI earlier this year.

According to Similarweb's most recent data, ChatGPT has now overtaken X (previously Twitter) in terms of monthly page views, suggesting that the Microsoft-backed startup's efforts have paid off.

ChatGPT didn't exceed X on any day in January, according to Similarweb data, but on a few days in February, it did.

With the exception of weekends, ChatGPT surpassed X in pageviews by March, and the AI chatbot eventually overtook X in April.

Notably, ChatGPT's new native picture production capabilities for GPT-4o caused a huge social media fad in March, as users transformed their photos into realistic action figures or Studio Ghibli-style visuals.

In light of allegations that OpenAI is developing its own social media network, the comparison between ChatGPT and X is significant.

OpenAI's social media project is still in its early phases, according to a report published last month by The Verge.

The project's goal is to help users share better content while also giving them access to unique real-time user data that competitors like X and Meta already have.

Elon Musk's X, on the other hand, was acquired by the billionaire's AI firm last month and combined into xAI Holdings. Musk has attempted to include more AI functions into the app, such as allowing users to access Grok directly from the page and, more recently, utilizing Grok to curate the user feed.
