"The AI Virtual Proximity Sensor from Elliptic Labs is designed to identify when a user raises their phone to their ear during a call, automatically turning off the display and deactivating touch functionality. This feature prevents inadvertent actions, such as hanging up or dialing numbers, caused by the user's ear or cheek. Apart from enhancing user experience, the screen-off functionality contributes to prolonged battery life. While proximity detection is a standard feature in smartphones, Elliptic Labs' AI Virtual Proximity Sensor stands out as a unique software-only solution. Unlike traditional hardware sensors, this software sensor reduces device costs and eliminates sourcing risks, showcasing its efficiency and innovation in proximity detection technology".
