PNB Merdeka Ventures Appoints Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim as CEO

PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV) has selected Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer starting January 1, 2026. In his new capacity at PNBMV, Izwan will lead the organization during a pivotal period for the Merdeka 118 precinct, steering its evolution into a universally acknowledged, multifaceted center for business, arts, history, and society in Kuala Lumpur.

Izwan has accumulated over 25 years of executive leadership expertise in esteemed Malaysian organizations including PETRONAS, KLCC Group of Companies, and Putrajaya Holdings.

He possesses a proven track record in a diverse range of industries, including real estate development, asset management, oil and gas, and technology.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has overseen the management of renowned national properties, orchestrated the strategic development of large-scale urban areas and districts, and guided companies through the process of digitalization and operational improvement.

Izwan's previous role as CEO of Putrajaya Holdings involved overseeing various sectors such as residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, and utilities, with a focus on transforming Malaysia's federal administrative capital into a contemporary and environmentally sustainable township.

Prior to his current role, he served as the executive director of KLCC Urusharta where he oversaw iconic international buildings like the PETRONAS Twin Towers and the broader KLCC Precinct, playing a key role in enhancing operational efficiency and increasing the overall value of these assets.

“Datuk Izwan brings deep experience in managing high-value internationally benchmarked developments including his stewardship of one of Malaysia’s most globally recognised precincts.

The Board is confident that under his guidance, PNBMV will continue advancing this landmark precinct as a catalyst for Malaysia’s urban development ambitions," says Permodalan Nasional Bhd group chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda.

PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd has put forth a proposition for an Islamic medium-term notes plan with a maximum value of RM6 billion called the Merdeka Sukuk Wakalah. PNB stated that the funds would be utilized for the purpose of refinancing its current sukuk and generating new funds for the continuous advancement of the Merdeka 118 locality.

The area, centered around the Merdeka 118 Tower, is being positioned as an exceptional and environmentally friendly development and will maintain its significant role in supporting the growth of Kuala Lumpur as part of the broader Warisan KL project. The Merdeka 118 Tower is becoming known as a highly desirable location for businesses in Kuala Lumpur, attracting a diverse range of corporate tenants in the financial services and multinational sectors, resulting in an office occupancy rate of approximately 70 percent.

PNB Merdeka announced that in addition to the office space, the seven-story 118 Mall will serve as a dynamic hub for lifestyle activities in the area, providing a diverse range of retail, dining, and entertainment options.
