imgNothing, the smartphone manufacturer, has significantly strengthened its budget-focused sub-brand CMF by establishing it as a separate subsidiary with India serving as its worldwide headquarters for operations, research, and production activities, the company announced.

In conjunction with this development, the firm has revealed a $100 million partnership with Optiemus Infracom Limited, an Indian electronics producer.

This alliance is projected to generate over 1,800 employment opportunities in India within the coming three years.

Through this partnership, India will function not just as CMF's manufacturing headquarters but will also serve a pivotal role in establishing the nation as a worldwide center for smartphone manufacturing and distribution.

Nothing has previously committed more than $200 million to India, demonstrating the nation's significance in the company's expansion plans.

CMF, introduced in 2023, has rapidly established itself in the affordable smartphone and wearable device market.

These devices are sold for less than $200, targeting an optimal price point in India where over 42 percent of all smartphones purchased during the second quarter of 2025 were within the $100-$200 range, based on IDC statistics.

Nothing's CEO Carl Pei stated that this joint venture represents an important achievement in developing CMF as India's inaugural genuinely international smartphone brand.

“India will play a key role in shaping the future of the global smartphone industry. With our end-to-end capabilities, we are uniquely positioned to build CMF into a global brand, and our joint venture with Optiemus is a key step in that journey,” he says.
