What drives your motivation and guides your daily routine?
In today’s world of information overload from the internet and AI, I remain intentional about what I read, reflect on, and engage with. I make it a point to interact with people who hold diverse perspectives, avoiding echo chambers and broadening my understanding.
One of my guiding habits is to examine the context of any issue before considering solutions, as every decision is shaped by the realities of its time.
This practice of learning, reflection, and contextual analysis helps me stay thoughtful, deliberate, and adaptable in leadership, while also showing respect for the teams who made earlier decisions.
Which frameworks do you use to assess strategic risks and ensure alignment with a company’s purpose and values?
As an independent director, I believe the board functions as a collective body. No single director has a monopoly on wisdom or superior knowledge. Strategic decisions emerge from collective deliberation, and it is this collaborative process that is essential for evaluating risks and opportunities.
Successes and shortcomings alike are shared responsibilities. Alignment between a company’s purpose, values, and strategy is therefore achieved through rigorous discussion and shared accountability among all board members, rather than relying on any one individual’s perspective.
If you expect commitment from your workforce, you must first demonstrate your own loyalty and support toward them
What are the guidelines or methodologies you follow as a leader?
My approach is deeply influenced by my early training as a military officer, where taking care of your team and resources is paramount. For instance, an officer ensures that the team’s needs are met before attending to their own. This principle of prioritizing the welfare of others is deeply ingrained in my leadership philosophy and guides the way I lead my team.
How do you approach integrating Gen Z into the workforce?
Integrating Gen Z into the workforce requires addressing the evolving expectations around loyalty and purpose. Unlike previous generations, many young employees prioritize immediate value and trust in their employers. In order to close this gap, companies should communicate honestly, set examples and show responsible attitude to all stakeholders, not only to the shareholders.
Developing meaningful roles and the element of purpose like the Ikigai concept can contribute to engagement, trust, and commitment of the new generation in the long-term perspective.
How do you keep yourself aligned with evolving industry trends?
I stay informed by reading widely, attending seminars, and participating in industry discussions. Yet leadership requires more than gathering information, it requires reflection. In an age of constant information flow, leaders must carve out time to contemplate, form their own standpoints, and remain anchored in their values.
Regular introspection and retreats allow me to process insights meaningfully and sustain a leadership style that is both grounded and forward-looking.
What future roadmap have you envisioned for yourself for the next five years?
My focus will increasingly shift toward mentorship and supporting young entrepreneurs in developing and incubating their ventures. While I am no longer seeking new investments or start-ups personally, I remain committed to contributing through guidance and experience. I also plan to devote more time to teaching and academic involvement, which continues to be one of my deepest passions.
What advice would you like to pass on to future leaders?
Never stop learning, and always make time for reflection, because reflection helps you form clear standpoints. Equally important is loyalty. Loyalty works both ways: if you expect commitment from your workforce, you must first demonstrate your own loyalty and support toward them.
