The technology transformation has long become inevitable for businesses regardless of their size and industry. One of the latest entities to realize the need for fresh ideas in the IT department is Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), one of the fastest-growing stock exchanges in Asia.

HKEX recently announced the appointment of John Hsu as Managing Director and Group Chief Technology Officer. According to HKEX, John will head the Group’s IT infrastructure, operations, development and support functions in Hong Kong, as well as HKEX’s Innovation and Data Lab and its Mainland Technology Centre. Leung, the former technology head, will continue to supervise the Group’s technology strategy and functions in his new role.

The rigorous changes in the technology domain across industry verticals also show how the mindset of organizations towards digital transformation has changed over the past few years—thanks to the benefits ranging from business continuity to ease of working and collaboration capabilities. CTOs have to adjust their strategy to suit the hybrid work culture, which is difficult. They have to be clear about the goal of the digital transformation. They must also know their own businesses and challenges well and be aware of the latest technologies. These factors are essential to create digital transformation solutions that are customized to their needs and that improve their customer satisfaction and business results. We have curated some interesting stories from Hong Kong’s business realm in this yearly special issue.
