Navigating Challenging Times

Separator

It’s no secret that Myanmar is going through a challenging economic turbulence. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Myanmar’s real GDP growth is 1.9 percent, which is among the lowest in the region and far below global and emerging market averages. The inflation in the country is at 30 percent, marking continued currency deterioration and price instability. However, while the economic outlook remains clouded by both internal political challenges and external sanctions, there are expectations of robust recovery in the long term.

It’s a great omen that Myanmar is constantly conducting international conferences and B2B expos, depicting a business environment in the country that is actively engaging the international community while navigating significant economic and operational risks. This trend is likely to continue, as Myanmar has lined up more such events for the near future. For instance, the Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Business Management Conference, which will focus on the latest trends in business leadership and entrepreneurship, is scheduled for 21st November 2025 in Bago. Myanmar Retail Sourcing Expo 2025 will also be taking place on the same day in Yangon, and Myanmar Agrotek Foodtek & Mitatex 2025 will start on 16th December 2025. Additionally, EuroCham will hold webinars and networking sessions in August and September 2025, including a session on business opportunities in the Myanmar renewable energy market and another on stakeholder engagement. In this special yearly issue of CEO Insights, we shed light on some of the resilient business leaders in Myanmar who set benchmarks in navigating the complexities of the country’s business environment.
