Dr Amos Kibet

Co-Founder & CTO

A Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in the Philippines today must go beyond managing systems. The role demands expertise emerging technologies like cybersecurity, AI, and blockchain, while also providing leadership and mentorship. With rising threats like data breaches and ransomware, CTOs are key to securing digital infrastructures and driving innovation.

Beyond technical skills, they must foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and creativity to help teams adapt in a rapidly changing digital economy.

Dr Amos Kibet, Co-Founder & CTO of iTeklabs, combines technical expertise in cybersecurity, blockchain, AI, and big data with transformative leadership. He has guided iTeklabs into becoming a trusted technology partner in the Philippines while mentoring future IT leaders as a Professor of Cybersecurity at AMA University. His work reflects a philosophy grounded in innovation, responsibility, and ethical practice.

Below is an excerpt from Dr Amos’s exclusive conversation with CEO Insights Asia Magazine, where he shares milestones, challenges, and his vision for shaping the future of iTeklabs and the wider technology ecosystem.

Tell us about the important milestones in your journey and the key lessons you’ve learned along the way.

One of the defining milestones of my journey was the co-founding of iTeklabs, a venture born from the desire to help organizations strengthen their digital resilience. We began with core services such as penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and secure software development.

iTeklabs gave me the platform to transform my personal passion for technology into practical, real-world solutions that address urgent cybersecurity challenges.

Another milestone was my academic research in blockchain and cybersecurity, which explored how decentralized systems can enhance security, transparency, and trust in digital platforms. This research bridged the gap between theory and practice, allowing me to apply rigorous academic insights to real-world innovation in securing next-generation technologies.

The future belongs to leaders who can secure, adapt, and innovate with emerging technologies at the core of their strategy

Equally meaningful has been my role as a Professor of Cybersecurity at AMA University. Teaching, for me, extends beyond the classroom, it is about mentorship and empowerment. Guiding students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and approach cybersecurity with integrity has been deeply rewarding. Watching them grow into IT leaders reinforces my belief that true impact comes not only from what we build but also from the people we inspire.

What inspired you to start iTeklabs, and what major challenges in the industry are you working to solve?

iTeklabs began in 2017 from my deep dive into cybersecurity and seeing friends victimized by cybercrime. By 2019, it became a mission-driven company helping Philippine organizations strengthen their defenses. The 2020 pandemic highlighted gaps in digital preparedness, pushing us to expand online services and focus on building a culture of security awareness. Since then, iTeklabs has grown beyond cybersecurity into software development, blockchain, AI, and business applications.

Can you share more about iTeklabs and the services your company provides?

iTeklabs started with core cybersecurity services like penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and digital forensics, which remain central to our work. Over time, we expanded into software development, blockchain solutions, and AI-driven systems, building apps, dApps, and intelligent automation tools. Today, we provide end-to-end IT services, including consulting on digital transformation, cloud integration, and infrastructure design, making us a trusted partner in innovation and resilience.

Tell me about your different roles and responsibilities at iTeklabs.

As Co-Founder & CTO, my responsibilities span both strategic leadership and hands-on technical oversight. I lead all technology initiatives across cybersecurity, blockchain, software development, and AI. Every project, from research and design to final deployment, is reviewed under my direction to ensure security, innovation, and scalability.

I also oversee client infrastructure planning, advising on network architecture, secure cloud migration, and advanced security frameworks. Collaboration is key: I work closely with our CEO and COO, aligning technology initiatives with broader business goals while ensuring innovation remains central to our mission.

At the same time, I stay actively involved in technical execution, conducting security assessments, mentoring engineers, and experimenting with emerging technologies. My philosophy is simple: technology must create measurable impact for clients while staying ahead of global trends.

Mentorship is central to your leadership. How do you train, support, and mentor your team?

At iTeklabs, mentorship is a core pillar of growth. We invest in professional certifications in cybersecurity, AI, blockchain, and ethical hacking. More uniquely, we partner with AMA University to enroll employees in Executive Diploma programs, combining technical skills with leadership, management, and strategic training.

I personally lead knowledge-sharing workshops, demonstrating secure coding, penetration testing, and blockchain application design before handing projects over. This ensures quality, builds confidence, and bridges the gap between training and execution.

Looking ahead, what are your future plans for yourself and iTeklabs?

Personally, I see myself continuing as a lifelong learner in cybersecurity and AI, staying at the frontier of technological advancement while teaching and inspiring the next generation. Teaching keeps me grounded, and it is my way of ensuring society benefits from skilled, ethical IT leaders.

For iTeklabs, the future lies in research and innovation. We are establishing a dedicated R&D division focused on AI, blockchain, and emerging digital technologies. This division will collaborate with global experts, publish white papers, and contribute to international knowledge-sharing.

Our vision is to scale iTeklabs into a regional hub for digital innovation by 2030 and beyond, continuing to deliver transformative solutions while inspiring others in cybersecurity and technology.
