Eager to transcend conventional boundaries, Dr. Dinesh embarked on an MBA, carving a unique path as the inaugural clinically trained physiotherapist in Singapore and India to transition into the realm of business. With over thirty-five years of experience, how would you describe your journey to success, and what is your secret to achieving it?

Over the past thirty-five years, I have been fortunate to gain diverse experience within my core field of physiotherapy. I began my career as a clinical physiotherapist, dedicating myself to this role for approximately eight years. Following this period, I transitioned into the commercial sector, focusing on the equipment and technology market as a distributor in Singapore and Malaysia. Concurrently, I served as a Consulting Sales Director for a leading American brand, Chattanooga Group, managing growth across the entire Asia Pacific region from 2000 to 2015.

This extensive journey has allowed me to experience all facets of the industry. I have sat on every side of the table – as a clinician, a distributor, and a manufacturer’s representative. This unique perspective has endowed me with a deep understanding and sensitivity towards all stakeholders involved, enabling me to effectively navigate and address their needs in any capacity I operate.

My success mantra, inspired by author Shiv Khera, is: 'Winners don’t do different things – they do things differently.' This philosophy, coupled with a commitment to creating win-win strategies for all stakeholders, has been instrumental in my professional achievements. By approaching challenges with innovative solutions and maintaining a collaborative spirit, I have been able to foster successful relationships and drive growth throughout my career.

Can you describe your leadership approach? What guidelines or methodologies do you adhere to as a leader?

In essence, my leadership style is to lead by example. Having progressed from the ground up, I am acutely aware of the challenges and obstacles faced at every organizational level. This journey has cultivated a deep sensitivity to the needs, aspirations, and potentials of all staff members. I am committed to fostering an environment where each individual can develop to their fullest potential, continuously inspiring them to excel and achieve their best. Consequently, I adopt a 'coaching style' of leadership, which emphasizes mentorship, encouragement, and personal growth. By focusing on these aspects, I aim to empower my team, enhance their skills, and drive collective success. My approach ensures that every team member feels valued, supported, and motivated to contribute effectively to the organization's goals, creating a cohesive and high-performing team dynamic. This method not only benefits the individuals but also propels the entire organization toward achieving its strategic objectives.

How do you stay current with industry trends to guide your organization towards future success?

To succeed and remain relevant in an ever-changing world, we consistently stay updated across three key fronts. First, we keep abreast of management trends, such as integrating IT with work processes to enhance efficiency and productivity. This ensures our operations are streamlined and in line with the latest advancements in organizational management, allowing us to remain competitive and innovative. Second, we stay informed about industrial trends, particularly new technologies that impact clinical practices. We actively explore these innovations through trade shows, product launches, professional conferences, and online resources. This proactive approach ensures we are always aware of the latest developments and can quickly adapt to emerging trends. Finally, we stay updated on clinical trends by monitoring the practices that are gaining popularity and showing promising results. To facilitate this, we bring in experts and clinical educators to provide continuing education and training to our staff and end users. This commitment to ongoing professional development enables our team to upskill, successfully embrace new methodologies, and deliver the highest standard of care. By maintaining a comprehensive approach to staying current in these critical areas, we ensure our organization is well-positioned to navigate future challenges and seize new opportunities, ultimately driving sustained success and growth.

What is your vision for the future direction you are heading towards?

The V2U team is dedicated to creating innovative clinical solutions aimed at addressing a variety of health concerns. Among these initiatives is the SCORES Back Pain program, designed to manage low back and spinal pain conditions effectively, providing patients with targeted treatments that improve their quality of life. Additionally, we are pioneering Foot and Gait solutions, utilizing advanced 3D printing technology to create customized insoles tailored to individual needs, ensuring optimal support and comfort. Another groundbreaking area we are focusing on is Performing Arts Medicine, where our team has developed significant expertise, making us pioneers in this emerging field by addressing the unique health needs of performing artists. Our ultimate goal is to implement these clinical solutions across the Asian region, with a particular emphasis on Southeast Asia and India. By doing so, we aim to provide accessible, cutting-edge healthcare solutions that enhance the quality of life for individuals within these communities. This vision drives us to continually innovate and expand our reach, ensuring that our advancements in clinical practice are available to those who need them most.
