Alumni Leaders from Lingnan University Hong Kong reflect this philosophy in action. They are known for combining intellectual depth with a strong sense of purpose, emerging as leaders who prioritize people, inclusivity, and meaningful impact across industries.

Jamie Wong, CEO of Fingertips Innovation Limited is one such leader whose journey exemplifies the university’s human-centric ethos. Her professional path has never been solely about building a career, but about building meaningful connections.

Beginning at PCCW, she developed an early understanding that success lies in genuinely listening to people and earning their trust. This belief further evolved during her time at China Telecom Global, where she navigated international markets and diverse cultural environments.

Through these experiences, Jamie recognized that while technology, strategies, and markets constantly evolve, people remain at the core of everything. Today, through her leadership at Fingertips Innovations and her engagement with industry communities, she continues to embody this vision. She is driven by a commitment to be a positive force, connecting individuals to opportunities, fostering authentic relationships, and creating meaningful impact in both business and society.

CEO Insights Asia engaged in a one-on-one interaction with Jamie Wong. Let’s hear from her.

As an alumnus from Lingnan University Hong Kong, what have been the most transformative learning experiences during your time there?

My time at Lingnan University shaped me far beyond academics through its unique liberal arts approach. I had the freedom to explore extracurricular activities without the pressure of grades, which nurtured my curiosity and openness to new experiences.

One of the most impactful programs was Project X, where I mentored younger students and embraced the philosophy of 'influencing life with life.' It taught me the value of presence, empathy, and genuine connection. Additionally, the mandatory hostel experience played a significant role in building my resilience and adaptability, while helping me form meaningful relationships and understand diverse perspectives in a shared living environment.

I see my journey as one of building meaningful bridges between people and possibilities

How has the University helped you further your passion in entrepreneurship and sharpen your business acumen?

Studying Business Administration alongside Cultural Studies provided a unique and well-rounded perspective. While it built a strong foundation in core business principles, it also deepened an understanding of human behavior, values, and cultural nuances. This dual lens continues to shape the approach to entrepreneurship one that goes beyond products to focus on experiences and meaningful connections.

It has directly influenced the broader vision of evolving from a simple eSIM connectivity-driven model into a more holistic engagement platform. We are not delivering just eSIM data service, we provide our customer with connection with the local community and activities throughout their journey. The convenience and the accessibility to fully experience during their travel.

What kinds of opportunities did the university provide to gain global exposure and build meaningful partnerships?

The university provided me with diverse opportunities that significantly broadened my global exposure and deepened my cross-cultural understanding. Serving on the hostel committee allowed me to actively engage with an international student community, where I developed strong skills in inclusivity, collaboration, and navigating different perspectives.

In addition, participating in a work-abroad program in Orlando gave me firsthand experience of living and working in a truly multicultural environment. These experiences collectively shaped my outlook, helping me realize that meaningful partnerships are built on empathy, adaptability, and a genuine willingness to understand and respect diverse viewpoints across cultures.

How did Lingnan University instill a spirit of responsibility and contribution towards society?

Lingnan University played a pivotal role in shaping my sense of responsibility through initiatives like Project X and various community engagement programs. These experiences taught me that creating meaningful impact is not about holding authority, but about showing genuine presence, empathy, and care for others. I learned that even small, consistent actions can make a significant difference when done with intention.

The university also reinforced the importance of showing up for people and contributing selflessly to the community. This mindset continues to guide me today, influencing how I approach my work, ensuring that every effort is purposeful and contributes positively to the lives of others.

What is one memory that stands out from your time at Lingnan University?

One of the most memorable experiences was during a work-abroad program in Orlando, where living with people from diverse backgrounds initially led to discomfort and misunderstandings. Differences in habits and perspectives created challenges, but instead of withdrawing, the decision was made to communicate openly and seek mutual understanding.

While not every conflict was resolved perfectly, the experience brought a meaningful shift in mindset. It became a powerful lesson in courage, resilience, and the importance of taking initiative to create harmony—values that continue to shape both personal growth and an entrepreneurial approach today.

How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership style is deeply rooted in a people-first philosophy, where I focus on creating an environment that allows ideas to emerge rather than having all the answers myself. I make a conscious effort to understand my team members on a deeper level, connect their work to a larger purpose, and encourage a culture where creativity and learning from failure are embraced.

I believe in listening more than speaking, leading with authenticity, and showing up consistently for my team. Ultimately, my goal is to support individuals in realizing their full potential and growing both personally and professionally.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?

I see my journey as one of building meaningful bridges between people and possibilities. Today, this vision is reflected in our work within the telecom space, especially through our travel eSIM solutions. However, my larger goal is to go beyond connectivity and evolve into a platform that seamlessly connects people not just to data, but to experiences, services, and moments that truly matter.

On a personal level, this journey is deeply influenced by my role as a mother. I aspire to help shape a future where technology serves humanity with purpose, and where the next generation is empowered to explore, connect, and create meaningful impact.
