Below is an excerpt of Khalil El Ghazzi’s exclusive interaction with CEO Insights ASIA magazine.

Could you tell us about your professional journey and what motivates your daily routine?

My professional journey began in Lebanon, where I completed a degree in mechanical engineering. Soon after, I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship, leading to studies in aviation and robotics in the United States. I started my career in Saudi Arabia with LG Air Conditioning. However, I unexpectedly pivoted to the ventilation industry by working with Systemair. This pivotal move initiated my global trajectory, transitioning from managing markets worldwide, including those operating on a 60 Hertz frequency while based in Germany, to assuming the role of Middle East Export Manager for the Group. My fluency in Arabic, French, English, and German has also played a key role in Systemair's strategic growth, particularly in Saudi Arabia.

Motivated by a passion for success and the transformative impact of our work on indoor air quality, my leadership role as the Managing Director and Head of the Regional Headquarters in Riyadh reflects the culmination of my diverse experiences and unyielding drive.

How has Systemair been maintaining its mark as a globally renowned supplier of ventilation, heating, and cooling products and systems since its inception in 1974?

Systemair Group has solidified its global prominence since 1974 through a meticulous commitment to product quality, innovation, and a far-reaching international presence. With a substantial network of 90 companies and 26 factories spanning 20 countries, our extensive distribution channels, comprising 54 direct sales offices and exports to 135 countries, ensure efficient product reach. Our diverse product portfolio, tailored to industry applications, caters to varied clients, fostering a customer-centric approach.

We prioritize customer satisfaction, viewing clients as partners rather than mere transactions. Technical expertise, coupled with comprehensive support services, distinguishes us from the competition, emphasizing our role from design to completion. Our forward-thinking approach extends to sustainability as we pioneer environmentally friendly, energy-efficient solutions in our commitment to reinforce our position as a responsible and reputable industry leader.

As the Managing Director, what are the factors you take into account when developing effective corporate growth strategies?

As the Managing Director, crafting effective corporate growth strategies involves a meticulous approach. Market analysis takes precedence, delving into industry trends, competitive landscapes, and growth opportunities. Utilizing tools like SWOT analysis, we scrutinize strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for strategic improvement. Financial assessment evaluates the company's health, considering revenue, profitability, and investment needs. Customer segmentation guides our target markets, while innovation and strategic partnerships differentiate us. In a rapidly expanding market like Saudi Arabia, talent acquisition and risk assessment are pivotal. Continuous monitoring ensures our growth strategies remain dynamic and adaptable to evolving challenges, securing sustained success in a burgeoning business landscape.

How have you built your team, and what are the principles you impart to them for the product development process?

Building a cohesive team for product development is an intricate process guided by key principles. Clarity is paramount in establishing a shared vision and precise goals. Communication remains pivotal, ensuring the team comprehends objectives and outcomes. Our cross-functional collaboration encourages diverse perspectives, valuing input from every discipline. A flat organizational structure fosters open communication, empowering each member to contribute meaningfully. Furthermore, by instilling a user-centric mindset, we urge employees to empathize with end-users, driving decision-making based on data rather than emotions. Continuous learning is embedded with academies, training, and exposure to evolving technologies. Transparent communication, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement form the bedrock of our team ethos, propelling us toward innovative and successful product development.

What is the future destination you are headed towards?

Our immediate focus in Saudi Arabia centers on local manufacturing, aligning with national directives through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Investment. While details are underway, our goal is clear - to position the facility as a key supplier for governmental projects, fostering a global footprint with exports across the Middle East and potentially worldwide. Simultaneously, I oversee strategic business development for the MENA region from our Riyadh headquarters. The future promises vast opportunities, with a commitment to impactful growth, ultimately contributing to society's health and well-being through improved indoor air quality.
