Aceh and UAE Agree to Form Team to Boost Investment Ties

Governor Muzakir Manaf of Aceh and Abdulla Salem Al-Dhaheri, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Indonesia, have consented to the formation of a collaborative task force aimed at enhancing investment, trade, and aviation partnerships.
The accord was concluded during a gathering at the residence of the UAE ambassador in Jakarta.

Effendi stated that the governor presented a spectrum of investment prospects in Aceh, encompassing oil, gas, mining, and palm oil processing for the manufacturing of cooking oil.
“Governor Manaf and the UAE ambassador agreed to form an investment team, which is expected to begin operations in May,” Aceh provincial government spokesperson Nurlis Effendi said in a statement issued in Banda Aceh.
Manaf emphasized the significant export opportunities that Aceh possesses for agricultural commodities to the United Arab Emirates, including patchouli and agarwood, which are essential raw materials for perfumes that are extensively utilized in Arab markets.
He additionally introduced a range of coconut-derived products that are in high demand within Middle Eastern markets, such as coconut oil, coconut flour, charcoal briquettes, and coconut fiber.
The UAE ambassador expressed approval for the suggestion to enhance cooperation in investment and trade.
“The governor also highlighted renewable biomass energy opportunities, including wood pellets and activated carbon derived from coconut and palm kernel shells for industrial use,” Effendi says.

Leading airlines, Emirates and Etihad Airways, are contemplating the establishment of representative offices and the initiation of new flight routes linking Aceh to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. This initiative is primarily aimed at facilitating travel for Umrah pilgrims originating from the province.
Ambassador Al-Dhaheri further articulated the UAE's commitment to aid in the reconstruction efforts following the disaster in Aceh, with a particular emphasis on the development of housing, the rehabilitation of agricultural lands, and the improvement of road infrastructure.
“The ambassador also reaffirmed Mubadala Energy’s plan to develop a shorebase logistics facility to support exploration in the Andaman block in Aceh,” Effendi adds.
Furthermore, Indonesia is endeavoring to expedite investment in renewable energy as a component of its pursuit of energy independence. A high-ranking parliamentary leader recently engaged in discussions in Abu Dhabi with Masdar, a UAE-based clean energy company, officials reported on Sunday.

Eddy Soeparno, the Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), engaged in discussions with executives from Masdar Clean Energy to investigate potential avenues for broadening the company's influence in renewable energy within Southeast Asia's largest economy, in light of Jakarta's initiative to accelerate its transition towards sustainable energy.
Soeparno, along with Judha Nugraha, Indonesia’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, was welcomed at the Masdar headquarters by Chief Operating Officer Abdulaziz Alobaidli and the Head of Development and Investment, Fatimah Al Suwaidi.
