EdgeConneX Joins Singapore’s Sustainable Tropical Data Center

This new alliance strengthens the firm's dedication to sustainable and effective data center innovation in one of the globe's most demanding operating landscapes.
As the Asia Pacific regional headquarters, Singapore is strategically significant for EdgeConneX, which takes pride in aiding the nation's effort to serve as a central hub for next-generation AI implementations.
The EdgeConneX dedication extends over several years and involves investment in a jointly managed infrastructure pool by the program team, along with particular tailored projects where EdgeConneX will directly apply its global data center knowledge, including its Ingenuity high-density data center solution.

Initially introduced in November 2023 and located at the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), STDCT was created to boost Singapore's edge in sustainable and efficient data center solutions and is acknowledged as the first data center testbed in tropical regions. Phase 2.0 propels that objective forward, emphasizing future-focused, AI-compatible data center solutions that integrate essential technologies like sophisticated liquid cooling and grid-responsive functionalities to sustainably operate ultra-high-density racks.
STDCT 2.0 is more than just a physical facility; it is a co-innovation program that is independent of technology and operators.
Its goal is to unite stakeholders within the data center industry to ensure the tropical data center sector is prepared for the future.
As the main industry partner of the STDCT 2.0 Consortium, EdgeConneX will co-invest in and influence the shared research infrastructure, while engaging in collaborative R&D, technology integration, and field validation. Utilizing the facility as a multi-vendor, practical test environment, EdgeConneX will aid in the assessment, risk reduction, and expedited implementation of sustainable data center solutions on a commercial scale.

The collective infrastructure will consist of modular data-center testing environments, sophisticated liquid-cooling and heat-rejection systems, high-precision instrumentation and telemetry platforms, along with an AI-native digital twin for system modeling, optimization, predictive operations, and lifecycle performance evaluation.

As the STDCT 2.0 Consortium Lead, NUS spearheads the design, creation, and coordination of advancements in cooling, power, heat rejection systems, and an AI-native digital twin, while managing the testbed, program oversight, and industry partnerships to facilitate the creation, integration, and verification of next-generation technologies.
