EU, US Authorities Take Down Malware Network

In the most recent phase of Operation Endgame, European, American, and Canadian police have taken down more than 300 servers globally and issued international arrest warrants against 20 people in a crackdown on malware, according to a statement from Eurojust, the EU office for criminal justice cooperation.
Authorities from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada joined together this week to combat the most hazardous malware strains in the world and their perpetrators.
Twenty people have been charged with crimes, and over three dozen suspects have been named. 650 domains were neutralized, more than 300 servers were taken down globally, and 3.5 million euros (S$5.12 million) worth of bitcoin were confiscated.
The measures come after the biggest-ever operation against botnets was carried out in May 2024.
The operation began in 2024 and has resulted in the seizure of 21.2 million euros.
This week's malware removal was referred to as "initial access malware." It is used for initial infection, which enables fraudsters to sneak into victims' systems and install other software, such ransomware, on their devices.

The multinational alliance will continue Operation Endgame by announcing follow-up activities on the designated website.
International and public pleas are being made against a number of the main suspects in the malware activities. On Friday, May 23, the German authorities will add 18 of them to the EU Most Wanted list.
