One Essex Court, a leading commercial set of barristers' chambers in London, has announced the appointment of Paul Tan, former partner and head of arbitration for Asia at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, as an international counsel and arbitrator.
Tan brings over two decades of experience in complex, high-value disputes across various industries. His expertise spans telecoms, natural and renewable resources, technology, media, construction, and financial institutions.
He joined Gibson Dunn in 2022 from Clifford Chance, where he was a partner and head of litigation for Southeast Asia. Previously, he was a partner at Rajah & Tann. Over his career, Tan has represented multinational corporations, global insurers, financial institutions, and Asian governments in both common and civil law systems.
In addition to his work as counsel, Tan sits as an arbitrator in cases before major international arbitration centers, including SIAC, HKIAC, and ICC.

Tan will continue representing clients in Singapore courts through Paul Tan Law, while also broadening his international practice at One Essex Court.
