Google has introduced “Gemini for Government,” specifically designed for US government federal employees in collaboration with the US General Services Administration (USGSA).

The solution, under the OneGov agreement, aims at delivering a range of AI and cloud services that will expedite the implementation of AI throughout the government.

The USGSA indicated that this initiative is part of the US government’s ‘America’s AI Action Plan.’

In a post on X, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced, “Building on our @GoogleWorkspace offer for federal employees, we’re excited to team up with the @USGSA to roll out Gemini for Government.”

Pichai further stated, “More than just a model, it represents our complete AI platform, featuring our latest AI tools, such as NotebookLM and Veo, driven by our most recent models and our secure cloud infrastructure, at almost no cost.”

According to Google, the ‘Gemini for Government’ consolidates the finest aspects of Google’s AI-optimized and accredited commercial cloud along with industry-leading Gemini models. This will include Google-quality enterprise search, video and image generation capabilities, the widely-used NotebookLM AI tool, ready-to-use AI agents for Deep Research and Idea Generation, and a feature that allows employees to develop their own AI agents.

The service will cost less than $0.50 per government agency annually. Google mentioned this will enable US government employees to access top-tier AI offerings at minimal expense.

“GSA values Google’s collaboration, and we are thrilled to incorporate the comprehensive ‘Gemini for Government’ AI solution into OneGov,” stated Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum.

Additionally, the GSA emphasized that it is fulfilling the US president’s AI Action Plan while assisting agencies in leveraging powerful American AI tools to enhance daily operations and contribute to a more efficient, responsive, and effective government for American taxpayers.
