Hanwha Aerospace Wins Norway Long-Range Rocket Deal
Industry experts anticipate that Hanwha Aerospace Co. has successfully obtained a contract worth around $1.9 billion to supply long-range rockets to Norway. The official contract is anticipated to be finalized and signed this week.
According to reports, it is anticipated that the agreement will be formally executed in Oslo by Hanwha Aerospace and the Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA).

Kang Hoon-sik, who serves as the presidential chief of staff in South Korea, will be present at the signing ceremony. Kang is presently in Canada as part of a visit that is widely perceived to be intended to facilitate the nation's defense exports.
Before his departure from Seoul, Kang mentioned his plans to also visit Norway to engage in discussions surrounding the enhancement of defense collaboration between the two nations.
Norway's agreement with Hanwha Aerospace focuses on the K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system, reflecting Norway's efforts to enhance its capacity for long-range precision strikes in response to increasing security challenges in Europe.
According to reports, it has been reported that the agreement contains an offset provision, which is a customary requirement in accordance with Norway's defense procurement regulations. Foreign suppliers must offer industrial cooperation equal to 100 percent of the contract value for defense projects surpassing 50 million Norwegian kroner.

This cooperation usually involves technology transfer and forming partnerships with local businesses. This agreement represents the most recent significant achievement for Hanwha Aerospace in the Nordic defense market, following its previous deals to provide K9 Vidar self-propelled howitzers to Norway in September.
According to industry analysts, the agreement emphasizes Hanwha's expanding presence in Europe and its capacity to fulfill the rigorous operational and industrial standards imposed by European defense clientele.
Furthermore, Hanwha Systems has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PV Labs, a Canadian expert in aerial imaging systems, with the aim of collaborating on the enhancement of sophisticated functionalities for Electro-Optical Tactical Systems. According to the memorandum of understanding (MOU), Hanwha Systems and PV Labs will work together to improve the capabilities of EO/IR sensors for a wider range of security applications.

Hanwha Systems intends to assist in the local development, system integration, and production activities in Canada as a part of this collaboration, including the transfer of relevant technologies to PV Labs. PV Labs, a prominent Canadian company specialized in stabilized electro-optical technologies, possesses key expertise in integrating high-resolution EO/IR sensors.
Both companies will work together to promote their products for international markets. The Partnership and Investment Framework is anticipated to generate valuable business prospects for both Hanwha Systems and PV Labs.
