Hyundai Motor is set to appoint its first female in-house director. The company announced on the 19th that its 57th regular general shareholders' meeting will take place on the 20th of next month at El Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
During this meeting, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun will be reappointed as an in-house director, while Hyundai Motor Vice President of ICT, Jin Eun-sook, will be appointed as a new in-house director.
Vice President Jin is a former general director of NHN and joined Hyundai Motor's ICT headquarters (vice president) in 2021. I have been in charge of ICT since May last year.
Hyundai Motor said, "We have accumulated various experiences and high levels of expertise in the ICT industry," adding, "As Hyundai Motor's first woman and ICT expert in-house director, we will contribute to strengthening competitiveness by enhancing gender and professional diversity in the board of directors."
Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon, who took over the role of general manager of the group through personnel appointments at the end of last year, will step down as an in-house director.
Hyundai Motor will replace three of its seven outside directors. The new appointments include Kim Soo-yi, former head of global PE at the Canadian Pension Investment Board (CPPIB), Do Jin-myung, former vice chairman of Qualcomm Asia, and Benjamin Tan, former portfolio manager at the Singapore Investment Authority (GIC).
Additionally, Hyundai Motor plans to expand its business scope by adding 'hydrogen business and other related ventures' at the upcoming shareholders' meeting. The company also intends to increase the directors' remuneration limit from 21.8 billion won last year to 23.7 billion won this year.
