India, Rotterdam Port Plan Clean Energy Exports to Europe

The establishment of a green and digital corridor connecting the Port of Rotterdam and Indian ports for the export of green hydrogen to Europe has been made possible by Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal's visit to the Netherlands.
According to the ministry of commerce, there are a lot of chances to improve collaboration between Indian ports and the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands in areas like digitalization, green shipping, and logistics optimization in order to increase bilateral trade.
Barthwal spoke with Boudewijn Siemon, the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam authority, about this during the visit.
One of the most developed ports in the world and the biggest in Europe is Rotterdam.
Opportunities in the fields of technology transfer, knowledge exchange, and sustainable port management techniques were considered by both parties.
In keeping with India's Maritime Vision 2030, which seeks to increase port capacity and logistical effectiveness, Barthwal emphasized the possibility of cooperation in modernizing Indian ports.
According to the commerce ministry, both parties have indicated a desire to strengthen their relationship through cooperative projects in green shipping, port digitization, and logistics optimization, all of which are essential to increasing bilateral trade flows.
"The visit laid the groundwork for setting up of a Green and Digital Corridor between the Port of Rotterdam and Indian ports like the Deendayal Port Authority Kandla, and export of Green Hydrogen and carriers like Ammonia and Methanol from India to Europe, with the Port of Rotterdam acting as a gateway to Europe," it said.
He also spoke with Christophe Fouquet, CEO of ASML, a world leader in semiconductor photolithography technologies, about strengthening India-Netherlands collaboration in the field.
Last week, the secretary also traveled to Croatia, where he met with Ivo MilatiÄ, State Secretary, Ministry of Economy, and Zdenko LuciÄ, State Secretary for Foreign Trade and Development, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
