Indonesia raised the issue during the 18th Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference, which concluded the GFFA 2026 on Friday (Jan. 16) under the theme “Water. Harvests. Our Future.”

The conference focused on the increasing risk of a worldwide water crisis on food production systems globally.

“Water unites us, energy drives innovation, and a sustainable food system provides nutrition while protecting the planet,” Hendiarti remarked at the event, which gathered 61 agriculture ministers from across the globe.

She emphasized the importance of strategic management of water resources for nations that are particularly susceptible to the effects of climate change. Her comments were in alignment with the agreement reached at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in 2026, which emphasizes the need to enhance the agricultural industry's influence on global water policy development and advancements in water infrastructure technologies.

This initiative is focused on guaranteeing equal and just access to food on a global scale. Apart from the ministerial conference, Indonesia engaged in bilateral discussions with agriculture ministers from Germany, Poland, Brazil, Fiji, and Uzbekistan.
