According to an announcement from his administrative headquarters, President Lee Jae Myung plans to convene a meeting with top executives of South Korea's prominent corporate entities this weekend to deliberate on potential action steps following the collaborative summit agreement with the United States concerning trade and related matters.

The gathering is taking place following the publication of a collaborative document by Seoul and Washington this week, which summarizes the outcomes of their recent diplomatic discussions.

Specifically detailing South Korea's commitment to invest $350 billion in the United States, with the understanding that the U.S. would correspondingly lower its tariff rates from 25 percent to 15 percent.

Top corporate leaders from major South Korean companies are expected to participate in the gathering, including Lee Jae-yong, the Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Chey Tae-won from SK Group, Euisun Chung, the Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group, Koo Kwang-mo of LG Group.

Additional high-ranking executives from conglomerates such as HD Hyundai and Hanwha, will also be participating in the meeting.

 

Lee Jae Myung is anticipated to utilize the gathering to elaborate on the specifics of the ultimate trade agreement and potential subsequent actions, while also seeking feedback from the business community.

The discussion might also address topics concerning internal economic development and employment generation, along with the administration's initiatives to improve regulatory, financial, and workforce policies, among other areas.

Representatives from South Korea and the United States expressed optimistic views about the ongoing development of their bilateral relationship, describing their partnership as an exemplary and progressive alliance, during a joint commemoration of Korean National Day and Armed Forces Day in the capital city on Wednesday.
