Musinsa, a South Korean fashion platform, has entered a distribution agreement to introduce its clothing label, Musinsa Standard, to Malaysia. The move marks the brand’s fourth Southeast Asian market after entering the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Musinsa announced that it had finalized the agreement with PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk, known as MAP, an Indonesian retailer. The partnership follows a similar exclusive distribution agreement between Musinsa and MAP for Indonesia, established the previous month.

Musinsa said it decided to strengthen its partnership with MAP because of the retailer’s experience and distribution networks in Indonesia and Malaysia. The companies will explore additional business opportunities across both markets.

According to Musinsa, Malaysia is an important fashion hub in Southeast Asia, supported by a large consumer base, purchasing power, and sophisticated retail infrastructure. Kuala Lumpur offers extensive shopping malls and commercial centers for global brands.

The company also noted that young Malaysian consumers are increasingly discovering brands and fashion trends online. Growing interest in Korean fashion and lifestyle products is being supported by the popularity of K-pop and Korean dramas.

Musinsa reported that transactions by Malaysian customers on its online store increased by an average of 63 percent annually between 2023 and 2025. During the first half of this year, transactions jumped 117 percent year-on-year.

Under the partnership, Musinsa and MAP plan to establish Musinsa Standard stores in key commercial locations across Kuala Lumpur and other cities.

The expansion will strengthen the brand’s physical retail presence and support its Southeast Asian growth strategy.

A Musinsa representative said Indonesia offers strong growth potential due to its large consumer base, while Malaysia provides an active and growing fashion market, high purchasing power, and distribution infrastructure.

Musinsa said it will continue working with MAP to develop market-specific businesses and expand its presence across Southeast Asia.

Earlier, Musinsa, a major online fashion platform in South Korea, is leveraging Indonesia's extensive retail network to boost its expansion into Southeast Asia by collaborating with PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP), the largest retail group in the nation.

In July, Musinsa and MAP entered into an exclusive distribution contract. Through the collaboration, the two firms will jointly enhance the physical presence of Musinsa Standard — Musinsa's internal fashion label — while customizing products and marketing approaches to suit Indonesian customers.

MAP runs over 4,000 retail outlets in over 80 Indonesian cities and oversees a collection of more than 150 international brands, as stated in the company's most recent reports. Musinsa expressed its desire to utilize MAP's extensive nationwide network and profound local retail knowledge to create a business platform tailored for the Indonesian market.

Indonesia, home to around 280 million people, is the biggest consumer market in Southeast Asia and has become a crucial focus for Musinsa's regional growth strategy. The action occurs as Korean fashion and beauty firms increasingly target Southeast Asia as a growth area, leveraging the region's growing middle class and increasing e-commerce adoption.
