imgNetmarble and Coway Chairman Bang Jun-hyuk is attracting notice for his efforts to advance social good by utilizing his companies' primary skills in ways that extend beyond financial gain.

Netmarble's press release indicates that under Bang's guidance, the social responsibility initiatives of Netmarble and Coway have shifted towards continuous, expertise-driven involvement instead of single donations.

A primary instrument for these endeavors is the Netmarble Cultural Foundation, headed by Bang, which champions the concept of games as beneficial cultural content.

The foundation's main initiative, Game Communication School, aims to reduce generational divides by fostering joint gaming experiences and understanding between parents and children. This program has been recognized for strengthening family bonds and promoting a more favorable view of gaming culture.

Furthermore, Netmarble assists young people interested in gaming careers through its Game Expedition program, which exposes students to diverse game-related occupations and aids them in exploring professional avenues within the industry.

Earlier this year, the company also launched the Netmarble Game Museum, intended to showcase the societal and cultural importance of games in Korea. The press release also highlighted Bang's significant support for athletes with disabilities.

In 2018, Netmarble pioneered the establishment of a para rowing team within South Korea's gaming sector. This team offers athletes a secure employment and training setting, allowing them to dedicate themselves to their sport and attain self-sufficiency.

The Netmarble para rowing team has demonstrated significant achievement, securing a total of 12 medals, with nine of them being gold, at the recent 45th Korea National Para Games.

Earlier, two athletes from the team qualified for the South Korean national team and participated in the 2024 Paris Paralympics

Additionally, Coway has broadened its commitment to para sports by forming the Coway Blue Wheels wheelchair basketball team in 2022. All athletes on the team are employed full-time by Coway, which provides them with economic and career security alongside their athletic pursuits. This team has performed impressively in national tournaments and has been instrumental in promoting awareness of para sports throughout Korea.

“These efforts extend beyond traditional sponsorship,” Netmarble said.
