Party General Secretary To Lam encouraged the Viet Nam News Agency (VNA) to uphold cohesion, encourage creativity, and strive for excellence in its role as a reliable source of information for the nation and a foundation of public trust in the modern era.

During a visit to the agency's headquarters in Ha Noi, the Party leader offered Lunar New Year wishes to the officials, journalists, reporters, and staff, praising their commitment and hard work.

Despite the holiday season, he acknowledged that VNA journalists were on duty, delivering news on various topics and keeping the public informed about important events happening both in Vietnam and around the world. He emphasized the VNA's recent coverage of the high-level Vietnamese delegation's participation in the Board of Peace for Gaza in the US, stating that it was a valuable contribution to the success of the diplomatic event.

He also stated that these efforts demonstrated Vietnam's sense of responsibility and active involvement in global issues.

General Secretary Lam, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, conveyed deep gratitude for the VNA's significant contributions throughout the nation's history, including the fights for independence and national unity, as well as the current efforts in national development and progress. He emphasized that the VNA has the highest number of journalists who have died among press agencies in Vietnam, with 260 out of the 511 journalist martyrs in the country.

Their bravery has become ingrained in the nation's culture, guaranteeing that the public is informed accurately and promptly. The General Secretary also reiterated the importance of VNA as a leading media agency for the Party and State, serving as the Government's primary source of information and a crucial link between the Party and the citizens.

Stepping into a new era characterized by an overwhelming amount of information, the Party leader warned that swift distribution can obscure the distinction between reality and fiction.

Given this circumstance, VNA reporters need to be more resolute, skilled and compassionate than before. While quickness is crucial, precision is essential. Each VNA article should act as a trustworthy guide for society, decision-makers, and the public.

He urged the agency to enhance communication both within the country and abroad to solidify social agreement and enhance the reputation of a peaceful, stable, and advancing Viet Nam. Each well-timed article, accurate word, and engaging photograph can act as a "digital ambassador," not just informing about the nation but also influencing how it is viewed internationally.

The leader of the Party also encouraged the VNA to actively embrace cutting-edge technologies, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), throughout all stages of news production, such as gathering and verifying information, editing, distributing, and archiving. He stressed that technology should be used as a tool to enhance, not replace, humans. Reporters should be proficient in technology to stay competitive, while upholding the essential principles of revolutionary journalism.
