Party Leader Calls on US Firm to Increase Investment in Vietnam

The group's recent investments and commercial successes in Vietnam were highly regarded by the Party chairman, who also noted their useful contributions to the growth of the nation and to US-Vietnam ties. 

 He confirmed that Viet Nam views the United States as one of its most significant allies and expressed the hope that the two nations' industries and citizens would continue to benefit from the healthy and productive development of their bilateral relations.

Party General Lam shared his vision for development and the importance of science and technology, saying that Viet Nam is working to improve laws and policies and promote institutional reforms to support the country's development goals in the new phase and make it easier for both domestic and foreign businesses to invest and do business.

He said he was happy to see so many big companies, like Marvell, keeping up their commercial and investment expansion in Vietnam.  He listed a number of priorities for Marvell's future investments, including helping Vietnam develop its semiconductor industry, creating data centers, and providing human resource training.  Bharathi discussed Marvell's commercial successes and growth in Vietnam during the previous ten years.

He said that the company will keep helping Vietnam reach its development objectives in science, technology, and innovation and that he greatly appreciated the vision of Vietnamese leaders for the advancement of science and technology.  In order to support the growth of the semiconductor ecosystem and the training of human resources, Bharathi stated his intention to further strengthen and expand collaborations with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, communities, and universities. This will allow Viet Nam to play a significant role in the Group's global ecosystem.

Prior to this, Lam claimed that Vietnam had no choice but to view innovation, science, technology, and digital transformation as the best innovations and the main factors behind updating its development model and achieving its two centennial objectives.

"We need to implement the Action Program for the development of 11 strategic technologies in accordance with Resolution 57, with clearly defined roadmaps for mastery of semiconductors, artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity and cryptography, biotechnology, biomedicine, new materials, new energy, electronics, sensors, and robotics," Party General Secretary Lam said.

"At the same time, we need to develop fundamental digital infrastructure, including cloud computing, high-performance computing, data centers, and 5G and 6G networks; increase the local content in critical technology systems; ensure confident international integration and safeguard the nation’s core capabilities,"  he added.

To create a generation of rapidly expanding digital companies and, eventually, Vietnamese tech unicorns, Lam advised academic institutions and research centers to expedite knowledge transfer and allow research teams to establish commercial enterprises to bring goods to market.
