PM's Visits to Kuwait, Algeria, South Africa Broaden Cooperation

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a senior Vietnamese delegation, have finished their productive official visits to Kuwait and Algeria, as well as their participation in the G20 Summit and meetings in South Africa.
The nine-day work trip, which included almost 80 meetings, has played a crucial role in fostering and reinvigorating a wide range of cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and countries in the Middle East and Africa.
The Prime Minister, his spouse, and the Vietnamese delegation were warmly welcomed with respect and friendliness in all three countries.

This gesture highlights the significance of their long-standing relationship and the mutual goal of enhancing and expanding cooperation with Vietnam.
Vietnam, Kuwait, Algeria, and South Africa have all agreed to enhance their relations with Vietnam by forming a Strategic Partnership. This move establishes Vietnam's first Strategic Partners in the Middle East-Africa region and signifies a fresh start in Vietnam's longstanding and positive relationships with these countries and the broader region.

The enhanced collaborations demonstrate a high level of political trust and an increased focus on cooperation in various areas such as economy, investment, culture, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and education.
It was recognized that economic cooperation plays a crucial role in strengthening the relationships further.
Prime Minister Chinh highlighted the importance of strengthening connections to build solidarity, fostering cooperation for mutual benefit, and increasing exchanges at both high and local levels to enhance mutual trust and understanding. Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung stated that the enhancement of relationships indicates the willingness of all three countries to enhance defense and security collaboration with Vietnam. Notably, Kuwait, Algeria, and South Africa can also act as entry points for Vietnam to enhance its connections with the Gulf Cooperation Council and the African Union.
During the visit, PM Chinh engaged in extensive discussions with high-ranking officials, government representatives, and businesses, partook in economic and business conferences, and witnessed the signing of over 10 cooperation agreements focusing on specific sectors. Vietnamese enterprises and their counterparts from the three countries also finalized several agreements that will facilitate the implementation of the newly formed Strategic Partnerships.

It is anticipated that collaboration will strengthen in both traditional sectors and newer industries. These may include mining, oil and gas exploration and refining, energy, agriculture, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, aviation, tourism, and cultural exchanges between individuals. Do Ha Nam, Chairman and General Director of Intimex Group, mentioned that on the journey they made, the organization sealed its biggest export deal to date with a partner from Algeria for 24,000 tons of coffee annually, valued at 110 million USD. He pointed out that numerous prospective collaborators showed enthusiasm in collaborating with the company, not limited to local consumption but extending to the distribution to neighboring markets.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Chinh emphasized the historical connections that Viet Nam shares with Kuwait, Algeria, and South Africa, which include mutual support during their fights for national independence and unity. He stated that this shared history should be continued as each country works towards progress and success.
