Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint has appointed JP Yu as Vice President of Southeast Asia and Korea (SAK). In this role, Yu will lead sales operations across a wide regional portfolio, which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. Operating from Singapore, he will focus on driving growth and expanding Proofpoint's presence in the region.
Yu brings over two decades of experience in cybersecurity and risk management to the role. He has a proven track record of leading teams to achieve business success and collaborating with multinational corporations and partners throughout the region. His appointment highlights Proofpoint's strategic investment in regions marked by growth potential.
In the face of shifting cybersecurity threats, a significant number of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) identify human error as a primary vulnerability. According to Proofpoint's 2024 Voice of the CISO Report, 67% of regional CISOs in Singapore recognize this as their top concern.
The report indicates that 86% of CISOs in Singapore are implementing AI-driven capabilities to enhance protection against human error and sophisticated cyber threats. Despite ongoing concerns about cyberattacks, the confidence among security leaders in their defensive capabilities appears to be growing. Currently, only 36% of respondents express feelings of unpreparedness for targeted cyberattacks, an improvement from previous years.

JP Yu brings a wealth of experience from roles at companies like NetWitness, Dell-EMC, Hitachi, Fujitsu, and Avanade, where he specializes in business development and sales across the SAK region.
