SalamAir, the budget airline of Oman, hosted a joint event at Muscat International Airport to commemorate its flights to Erbil and Damascus, emphasizing the airline’s persistent growth and dedication to enhancing travel accessibility.
The event took place with the support of Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology and Chairman of SalamAir. It was attended by Dr. Razzaq Salman Mashkoor, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of the Iraqi Diplomatic Mission, along with Khalid Al Ayoubi, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Sultanate of Oman.
Present as well were delegates from Oman Airports, along with partners from the aviation ecosystem and members of the media. Uniting diplomatic representatives and industry participants, the event emphasized how these services expand travel options throughout the Middle East to enhance connections between nations and promote tourism and trade.
The services also provide chances to draw visitors to Oman and link passengers with relatives, friends, and locations throughout SalamAir’s network via Muscat.

Renowned for its historical fortress and lively bazaars, Erbil adds another unique location to the airline's expanding network. SalamAir will launch direct flights from Muscat to Damascus on October 28, 2026, making it the first Omani airline to provide this service.
The service will enhance connectivity between Oman and Syria, offering a convenient travel choice for travelers heading for tourism and business. The journey will provide travelers with chances to explore the rich cultural heritage, historic sites, and traditional markets of the Syrian capital.
