As per Tata Steel, T V Narendran has been re-elected as the organization's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for a term of five years beginning on September 19, 2023. His current term as CEO & MD will end on September 18, 2023, according to a regulatory filing by Tata Steel.
"T V Narendran is appointed as CEO & MD of the Company for a further period of five years effective September 19, 2023...not liable to retire by rotation," it said
The re-appointment is subject to shareholders' approval, the company said.
He has worked in the mining and metals sector for more than 35 years. Tata Steel hired Narendran in 1988. On November 1st, 2013, he was chosen to serve as the managing director of Tata Steel for India and South East Asia. Tata Steel promoted Narendran to Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director internationally in October 2017.
He has managed Tata Steel's recent organic and inorganic expansion in his capacity as CEO and MD. According to the firm, Narendran handled the purchases of Usha Martin Limited's steel business, Neelanchal Ispat Nigam Limited's steel business, and Rohit Ferro-Tech Limited's steel business, as well as Bhushan Steel Limited (later known as Tata Steel BSL Limited) and its merger into the firm.
The Supervisory Board of Tata Steel Nederland BV, Tata Steel Long Products Limited, and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited are all chaired by Narendran in addition to Tata Steel Europe.
