
TDK Acquires SoftEye to Enable AI in Smart Glasses

TDK Corporation has revealed the acquisition of SoftEye, Inc. (CEO: Te-Won Lee, hereafter "SoftEye"), a systems solution company located in the U.S. that specializes in developing custom chips, cameras, software, and algorithms specifically for smart glasses.
Following this acquisition, SoftEye becomes an indirectly wholly owned subsidiary of TDK Corporation.
This development marks a significant milestone in TDK's efforts to enhance its role within the complete AI ecosystem and strengthens its business portfolio to secure a leading position in this vital market.
SoftEye, situated in San Diego, California, USA, aims to create a seamless connection between users and generative AI.
Their custom chips, cameras, and algorithms facilitate an end-to-end system that empowers "the eyes for AI (eyeGenI™, eyeGI™)."
The company’s always-on custom chips and sensor systems are equipped with innovative hardware- and software-based eye intent technology that supports low-power eye tracking and object recognition.
This capability is essential for delivering a comprehensive AR/VR display system and will introduce a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) that allows interaction with AI through eye movements.
