Leading small arms producer CARACAL, a member of the EDGE Group, announced the signing of a contract with Ketech Asia, a producer of high-tech ammunition and a supplier of small arms solutions, for the manufacture and distribution of CARACAL's CAR 816 in Malaysia.
The deal was signed during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2023), which is taking place in Langkawi, Malaysia, till May 27, by Mohd Nahar Mohd Nasir, CEO of Ketech Asia, and Hamad Al Ameri, CEO of CARACAL.
Based on the agreement, the two businesses will carry out a technology transfer so that Ketech Asia may assemble the highly dependable, mission-tested CAR 816 tactical assault rifle at its new Pahang facilities in support of the needs of the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces.
To increase sales of advanced products and solutions produced locally in markets throughout Southeast Asia, cooperation will also be conducted to examine the possibility of jointly developing new firearms. Ketech Asia will also become an official reseller of the rifle, underscoring EDGE's confidence in creating worthwhile and mutually beneficial industry partnerships in Malaysia.
The deal with Ketech will also make it easier for EDGE to investigate more CARACAL small arms business potential in Malaysia.
