The Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), joined forces with the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) to conduct a seminar in Phnom Penh aimed at enhancing cross-border e-commerce between the two nations, enabling businesses to improve market linkage and broaden export prospects.

Trade between the two nations exceeded 11.3 billion USD in 2025, and both countries are striving to increase this amount to 20 billion USD soon.
He characterized cross-border e-commerce as a crucial new growth engine to assist in reaching that objective.
Vietnam ranks as one of the fastest-growing e-commerce sectors in Southeast Asia. In 2025, the online retail market reached a valuation of approximately 31 billion USD, increasing over 25 percent compared to the previous year, with roughly 60 percent of the population engaged in online shopping.
At the same time, Cambodia is experiencing swift expansion in its digital economy and e-commerce, aided by a youthful demographic, increasing internet access, and broader use of digital payments. Vu stated that with advantageous logistical connections, the two adjacent markets present significant opportunities for companies to reach consumers directly via e-commerce platforms.

Considering this, the seminar provided an important opportunity for both parties to explore strategies to enhance the industry.
He emphasized Cambodia's efforts in digital transformation and its robust trade relations with Vietnam as a foundation for participants to deliberate on policies and methods to establish optimal conditions for their enterprises.
Cambodia seeks to gain insights from Vietnam's approach to optimizing the administrative structure and easing the processes for investment and trade, he stated. Monivann observed that several Vietnamese businesses are thriving in Cambodia and affirmed that his nation will keep supporting investments in manufacturing, food processing, and technology.
Leng Rithy, President of the Vietnam–Cambodia Business Association, stated that cross-border e-commerce has emerged as a new driving force for businesses to reach markets faster, lower expenses, and enhance competitiveness.
