Can you provide a brief summary of your professional journey?

Growing up in a family of doctors, I studied Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. I completed my internship and residency training at Makati Medical Center, where I also obtained my specialty boards to become a board  Dermatologic Society. I specialized in Dermatological and Laser surgery by taking a postgraduate course at Ramathibodi Hospital in Thailand. In 2007, I opened my own clinic named NU.U Asia, which is located outside the hospital at the Bonifacio Global Center, where it is still in operation. In 2019, I furthered my education by studying IV nutrients in Medicine at Melbourne under the Australian Institute of Medical Nutrition and obtained a global franchise of Reviv. With the pandemic, we rolled out a Wellness mobile van to cater to the nutrition and immunity of the community by going to them door-to-door but in a controlled environment. We also opened our flagship clinic at BGC, Taguig, in 2020.

Can you describe your leadership approach, and what is your success mantra?

My leadership approach is centered around passionate practice and compassionate care. I learned good clinical eye and bedside manners from my mother, who is a well-respected OB-GYN, and my mentors in Dermatology and training at Makati Medical Center. I practice evidence-based medicine and prioritize good patient care under the standard of the community, keeping in mind not only the patient's skin but also their overall well-being.

What is Makati Medical Center's role in the healthcare industry?

Makati Medical Center is a premium and personalized healthcare provider that values lives and has been a premier hospital in the Philippines for over 50 years. The hospital has top-notch doctors and healthcare providers, and the Medical Director listens to everyone.

What factors do you consider when developing effective corporate growth strategies?

I prioritize teamwork and providing a good working environment. During the COVID-19 crisis, I believe that top management should prioritize not only the patients but also the front-liners.

I practice evidence-based medicine & prioritize good patient care under the standard of the community, keeping in mind not only the patient's skin but also their overall well-being

What are the best industry practices you have implemented in your services?

I prioritize evidence-based practices and the safety of the community. I believe that trust is the most important aspect of healthcare practice.

How do you foster a learning culture among your team to gain important insights from the market? What is your future goal?

I believe in supporting the teaching of new doctors, not just in techniques but also in the ethics of being a good doctor. I value the human touch in healthcare, even with the constant bombardment of new technologies and machines.

My goal is to continue helping and teaching doctors not just in Metro Manila but also in the provinces and even the farthest islands in the Philippines. I hope to expand the hybrid technology of medicine to help more people and train practitioners digitally. I also wish to help educate more Filipinos about the importance of going to board certified specialist and more access in healthcare.
