Ozge Nur Muftuoglu
Founder & CEO
Leadership today demands more than the ability to drive growth. It calls for clarity of vision, the courage to make informed decisions and, above all, the ability to build trust in an increasingly interconnected business environment.
This is especially true in the petroleum and petrochemical sector, where relationships, reliability and market understanding can shape long-term success. Ozge Nur Muftuoglu Bayram, CEO & Founder, MG Energy, brings this perspective to the forefront.
With a background in Chemical Engineering and extensive experience in international petroleum and petrochemical trading, she combines technical understanding with commercial insight. Her leadership is rooted in a simple belief: businesses may grow through opportunities, but they earn lasting recognition through integrity, consistency and the trust they create with every stakeholder.
With this understanding, Bayram founded MG Energy in 2025, driven by a vision that went beyond conventional petroleum and petrochemical trading. The company was established not simply to trade products, but to build trust. Rather than pursuing scale for its own sake, her ambition was to create one of the industry’s most trusted companies.
That vision is already translating into tangible progress. MG Energy now operates across 17 countries and has expanded from a single product line to nearly ten product categories. Yet, for Bayram, these milestones are not the ultimate measure of success. The trust the company has earned among its partners and customers represents a far more meaningful achievement.
Her leadership also carries a broader sense of responsibility. As a woman leading a company in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Bayram sees success as an opportunity to create pathways for others. Her journey demonstrates that effective leadership is not only about building a successful organisation, but also about creating credibility, opening doors and inspiring the next generation to pursue bigger possibilities.
Every market has its own culture, business practices and expectations, so I believe successful expansion begins with listening and understanding rather than imposing a standard approach
What inspired you to establish MG Energy, and what market opportunities did you identify?
I established MG Energy after recognising that the petroleum and petrochemical market needed more than competitive pricing. Customers were increasingly looking for reliability, transparency, responsive communication and partners who could understand and solve their challenges rather than simply sell products.
My experience in international trading helped me identify an opportunity to build a business around these expectations. I wanted MG Energy to be a company where every transaction contributes to a long-term relationship.
From the beginning, I therefore focused on dependable sourcing, clear communication and consistent execution. For me, the real opportunity was to create a trusted partner that customers could rely on across markets and over the long term.
Which milestones have been the most transformative in your entrepreneurial journey?
One of the most transformative milestones has been building an international network in such a short period. Starting with a single product line and expanding to nearly ten product groups has also been an important achievement for MG Energy.
However, I consider our repeat business across 17 countries even more significant. It demonstrated that customers were not choosing us only because of a product or price; they were returning because of the trust and reliability we had established.
This experience reinforced my belief that sustainable growth comes from relationships rather than transactions. Every successful delivery, new market and returning customer has strengthened my confidence in the business model and shaped my approach to leadership.
How do innovation and sustainability shape MG Energy?
I see innovation as a continuous process rather than something limited to technology or new products. It means finding better ways to understand customer needs, improve processes and deliver greater value.
Sustainability, for me, is equally connected to creating lasting value beyond financial performance. I believe businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities around them.
At MG Energy, we support seven female students through educational scholarships, helping them pursue opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to access. We also allocate a dedicated contribution from every sale towards social responsibility projects. These initiatives reflect my belief that commercial success becomes more meaningful when it can create opportunities and positive impact for others.
What principles guide your international expansion?
Respect, trust and adaptability are the three principles that guide my approach to international expansion. Every market has its own culture, business practices and expectations, so I believe successful expansion begins with listening and understanding rather than imposing a standard approach. We focus on building genuine relationships with local partners and creating value for every stakeholder involved.
Adaptability is equally important because international markets can change quickly, and businesses must be prepared to respond while remaining consistent in their values. I am particularly proud of the relationships we have developed with outstanding women leaders across international markets.
These partnerships demonstrate the importance of collaboration and reinforce my belief that diverse leadership creates stronger global business networks.
How do you build and sustain a high-performance culture?
I strongly believe that leaders must build people before they build companies. A business can have an excellent strategy, but sustainable execution depends on the people responsible for bringing that strategy to life. At MG Energy, I encourage ownership so that team members understand that their decisions
and contributions matter. I also place considerable importance on continuous learning because markets, customer expectations and business practices are constantly evolving. Teamwork is equally essential because strong results rarely come from individual effort alone.
My role as a leader is to create an environment where people feel trusted, challenged and supported. When employees are motivated and empowered, they become a fundamental reason behind sustainable organisational growth.
What are your priorities for the next five years?
Over the next five years, I want to strengthen MG Energy’s presence across global markets while ensuring that our growth remains responsible and sustainable. Expanding our product portfolio will be an important priority, allowing us to serve a wider range of customer requirements and capture emerging opportunities.
We also plan to invest further in digitalisation so that our processes become more efficient, responsive and scalable. Alongside commercial expansion, I want to continue strengthening our supplier and partner ecosystem.
My objective is not simply to make MG Energy larger; I want to make it stronger, more trusted and more valuable to the markets we serve. For me, sustainable growth will always be more important than growth for its own sake.
What does receiving the Distinguished CEO Award mean to you?
Receiving the Distinguished CEO Award is a great honour, but I see it as a recognition of a collective journey rather than an individual achievement. MG Energy’s progress has been made possible by the commitment of my team, the confidence of our customers and the support of our partners.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has believed in our vision and contributed to our growth. At the same time, I hope this recognition carries a broader message.
As a woman leading a company in a traditionally male-dominated industry, I want my journey to encourage young women to pursue leadership with confidence and courage. Ultimately, I believe a company’s true legacy is measured not only by profits, but by the lives it positively impacts.
