The chief executive officer for the two SAR markets in Hong Kong and Macau will be Patrick Graham, according to the insurance business Manulife.

Graham is currently a member of the company's Asia Division Executive Committee and Global Leadership Team and has over 25 years of leadership experience in the insurance and financial services sectors.

According to the insurer, Mr. Graham is a leader in the insurance industry with a proven track record of achieving achievements at scale, both locally and across numerous regions in Asia.

“I am excited to join Manulife’s winning team and honoured to steer the business of such a trusted, leading, and forward-looking life insurer in Hong Kong and Macau. I share the company’s ambitions in improving the health, wellness, and financial future of people, and strive to sustain our position as the number 1 pan-Asian insurer in Hong Kong,” said Mr. Graham.

Mr. Graham moved to Manulife from Cigna, an insurance provider with headquarters in the American state of Connecticut, where he spent a decade in a variety of senior leadership roles, his latest one being CEO for Asia Pacific.

“With preparations in place for the border reopening and the expected recovery of the economy in Hong Kong, Manulife is in a unique position to grasp future opportunities to better serve our customers, drive business growth and contribute to the development of the insurance industry in the Greater Bay Area,” he added.

He worked with GE Capital for 14 years in a variety of senior management positions before leaving Cigna for Manulife. For almost three years, he also worked as the US-ASEAN Business Council's director and treasurer.

Over 11,000 agents work for the Manulife Hong Kong and Macau division, which employs 2,000 people overall.

Based on assets under management as of September 30, 2022, it has a market share of 27% and was the largest Mandatory Provident Funds (MPF) provider in Hong Kong.
