Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Names Fernando Plaza As New Chief Digital Officer

Fernando Plaza Lopez has been named as the new Chief Digital Officer of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a prestigious financial institution. Fernando will be in charge of implementing the digital strategy for the entire bank, including omnichannel, Agile, and innovation activities.

Fernando is a skilled industry specialist with over 20 years of experience in the digital and payment industries. He has a track record of accelerating growth in high-growth, fast-paced enterprises.  Fernando has negotiated the digital and payment industries at all levels during his career, from startups to significant businesses. At reputable companies like Lloyds Banking Group, Vodafone Group, Emirates Group, Al Rajhi Bank, and Arab National Bank, he has held senior executive positions.

Fernando created a new business unit to promote growth in the areas of digital, fintech, payments, and remittances in his previous position as Chief Digital Officer at Arab National Bank. He oversaw the digital transformation of the bank's remittance business, driving online banking revenue growth, developing a fintech partnership programme, forming a payments group for point-of-sale, eCommerce acquisitions, and foreign remittances, among other accomplishments.

To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its operations, ADIB is making technological investments. The Bank is in a good position to advance digital innovation in the banking sector and expand its digital capabilities.
