Akamai Appoints Sean Li to Lead Asia Pacific Sales

Sean Li has been appointed Senior Vice President Regional Sales and Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan at Akamai. He is taking over from Parimal Pandya in this role.
Based in the region, Sean will drive growth at Akamai across the entire Asia Pacific and Japan regions. The scope of his responsibility includes building and maintaining customer partnerships in the region as well as executing Akamai's strategic objectives in collaboration with customers looking to leverage cloud, security, and artificial intelligence within their organisations in multiple markets.
Already, technology suppliers and their customers have been increasing their focus on doing business in Asia Pacific as demand for AI services continues to grow rapidly in both mature and rapidly digitising economies.
As companies look to establish an Asia Pacific presence, they will be confronted by a variety of different challenges related to latency, security, cloud adoption and data residency requirements due to the different rules governing each location they operate within.
Akamai has been offering its services to customers in Asia Pacific since 2003 and currently has over 2,000 customers using Akamai across verticals such as financial services, gaming, e-commerce, media, manufacturing and critical infrastructure. We also have partnerships with 150 other resellers and partners throughout our key markets in Asia Pacific.
During his more than ten years at Akamai, Li was the Vice President and Managing Director for Greater China; he was in charge of one of Akamai's biggest markets outside the USA.
Pandya will now lead the global sales strategy for Akamai's Cloud business. This change also indicates that the Asia Pacific and Japan leadership changes reflect larger changes in Akamai’s sales organisation as the company expands its Cloud Operations.
