Citi Appoints Shamsa Al Falasi As UAE Onshore CEO

Shamsa Al Falasi has been named CEO of Citibank's UAE onshore operation. According to a statement from the bank, Shamsa will also take on the responsibilities of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) UAE for all Citi entities operating both onshore and offshore in the nation.

Senior Business and Relationship Manager for the MENA and Turkey region based in the UAE, Al Falasi is a seasoned banker with nearly two decades of experience at Citi. Al Falasi joined the bank as a graduate in 2004 and has since worked in places such as Dublin, London, and Sao Paulo.

Her post was expanded in 2018 to include regional responsibilities as Head of GSG in GCC and Iraq based in the UAE. She was appointed Head of the Global Subsidiaries Group (GSG) for the UAE and Iraq in 2015. Al-Falasi has been the interim Citi Country Officer (CCO) and interim CEO of Citibank, North Africa UAE Onshore Branch since the beginning of 2023. Until a permanent appointment is made, she will remain the interim CCO.
