Ni Made Ayu Marthini, the Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, underscored the significance of connectivity as a fundamental support for the advancement of Indonesia's tourism industry.

She elaborated on the importance of connectivity in enhancing public mobility and driving economic advancement in the tourism industry.

Marthini advocated for strategic cooperation among various stakeholders, such as the government, transportation industry, and other relevant businesses, in order to enhance Indonesia's tourism infrastructure.

“If connectivity between countries or between islands is weak, it is impossible for us to achieve our tourism goals,” she adds.

It is essential to ensure strong connectivity between nations or islands in order to successfully attain our tourism objectives, she notes.

According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the number of trips taken by domestic tourists in November 2025 was recorded at 96.45 million, reflecting a marginal increase of 0.47 percent compared to the preceding month. In comparison to November 2024, domestic tourism saw a significant rise of 19.64 percent.

In the interim, the Ministry of Tourism disclosed that Indonesia received 13.98 million foreign tourists between January and November 2025, indicating a 10.44 percent growth compared to the corresponding period in 2024, during which there were 12.66 million tourist arrivals. The preponderance of international tourists originated from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor Leste.

Tourists play a vital role in stimulating the economy by providing direct support to various businesses in sectors including food and beverage, hospitality, and transportation.

 

Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism reported that Indonesia saw an increase of 10.44 percent in international tourist arrivals, reaching 13.98 million visitors between January and November 2025, compared to the 12.66 million tourists in the same period the year prior. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana highlighted that the highest number of arrivals were from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor-Leste.

The minister also indicated that from January to November of 2025, five airports continued to serve as the main entry points into Indonesia: I Gusti Ngurah Rai in Bali, Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta, Juanda in Surabaya, Kualanamu in Medan, and Yogyakarta International Airport. During the same period, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa noted that Indonesia experienced a total of 1.09 billion domestic tourist trips, exceeding the government's projected target of 1.08 billion movements by 2025.

She characterized the positive trend as indicative of the tourism industry's development and underscored the need to enhance connectivity, implement targeted advertising campaigns, and elevate service standards in order to broaden the sector's market penetration.
