
DPIIT Secy Reviews Infra Projects of Five States

As part of its continuous effort to expedite execution through better coordination and time-bound issue resolution, the Center has conducted a thorough review of stalled infrastructure projects totaling more than Rs.75,800 crore across Jharkhand and four Northeastern states, according to the ministry of commerce and industry.
To identify major bottlenecks in important infrastructure projects in Jharkhand, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, a high-level meeting was conducted on June 24 under the direction of Amardeep Singh Bhatia, secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
According to the ministry, 18 concerns covering 11 significant projects in Jharkhand alone were investigated, totaling more than Rs.34,213 crore in investment.
There were also notable evaluations in the North-East. In Assam, one high-value project valued at Rs.6,700 crore was evaluated. Arunachal Pradesh received investments of Rs.33,469 crore from seven issues across three projects, including a Rs.1,000 crore private sector initiative by GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd.

While Nagaland reviewed three issues relating to two projects valued Rs.544.65 crore, Sikkim identified two project-related issues requiring investments of Rs.943 crore.
The 2,880 MW Dibang Hydropower Project in Arunachal Pradesh…will feature India’s tallest dam and generate 11,223 million units of clean energy annually. Scheduled for commissioning by February 2032, it will aid flood control, provide 13% free power to the state, and support Net Zero goals, the ministry said.
The Patratu Thermal Power Station Expansion Project Phase-I in Jharkhand, the Dibang Hydropower Project in Arunachal Pradesh, and the Kohima Bypass Road in Nagaland were among the projects that were examined.
The review's goal was to find and fix long-standing problems that are impeding the delivery of infrastructure in these areas. It was led by the PMG under DPIIT.
“Issue pertaining to a private sector project of GeoEnpro Petroleum Limited in the State of Arunachal Pradesh, worth Rs 1,000 crore, was also reviewed during the meeting,” the ministry said, adding that Bhatia advised the state government to accord high priority to the matter and extend all necessary support to GeoEnpro Petroleum Limited to ensure timely resolution of the project-related issues.

According to the ministry, the project is a component of the Center's ongoing initiatives to speed up infrastructure development in neglected and strategically significant regions like the Northeast.
