Dubai to Launch Autonomous Vehicle Trials

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pony.ai, a leading company in the autonomous driving sector, to initiate pilot trials of self-driving cars in the emirate later this year.
These trials represent an important milestone towards the potential launch of fully automated services by 2026.
Pony.ai, a Silicon Valley-based firm with significant connections to China, recently introduced the seventh generation of its autonomous vehicles, developed in collaboration with major automotive manufacturers including Toyota, GAC, and BAIC.
These vehicles incorporate state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, alongside a comprehensive set of advanced sensors, lidars, radars, and cameras, all engineered for accurate navigation and secure operation across diverse road and weather scenarios.
The company has also established partnerships with key technology giants such as Tencent and Alibaba to embed its robotaxi services into popular digital platforms like WeChat and Alipay.
