Foxconn Exports $3.2 Billion Worth iPhones from India to the US

Foxconn exported $3.2 billion worth of iPhones from India over the course of three months, with an average of 97 percent of those units going to the US market, according to reports.
Data indicates that nearly all of Foxconn's iPhone exports from India between March and May 2025 were sent to the US, indicating a dramatic change in Apple's worldwide supply chain strategy.
The drastic rerouting highlights Apple's need to avoid rising levies on Chinese goods and stands in stark contrast to prior distribution patterns.
This number contrasts sharply with the average for 2024, when only about half of iPhones manufactured in India were shipped to the US.
Indian iPhone shipments to the US totaled about $1 billion in May 2025 alone, falling just shy of the record $1.3 billion in March.
The numbers demonstrate Apple's increasing reliance on manufacturing in India to meet the demands of its biggest market and mitigate the effects of increased trade restrictions imposed by the US on China.
US President Donald Trump recently criticized Apple's growing investment in India in a public remark. Trump said, "We are not interested in you building in India… we want you to build here," recalling an exchange with CEO Tim Cook. Apple seems to be stepping up its India approach in spite of this political pressure.
In just the first five months of this year, Foxconn, Apple's main manufacturing partner in India, has sent $4.4 billion worth of iPhones to the US, surpassing the $3.7 billion total exports for 2024.
Apple allegedly rented planes in March to transport supplies of the iPhone 13, 14, 16, and 16e models, worth around $2 billion, straight to the United States in an effort to speed up exports. In order to emphasize how urgent it is to streamline operations, the business has also pushed Indian officials to cut the customs clearance delays at Chennai airport from thirty hours to only six.
The output of Tata Electronics, a more recent iPhone assembler that is a part of the Tata Group in India, has also become more geared toward the American market. Approximately 86 percent of its iPhone shipments went to the US between March and April 2025, up from an average of 52 percent in 2024.
