Ho Chi Minh City Must Lead National Growth: Party leader

During a Tet visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized the need for the city to maintain its leadership in promoting national growth, innovation, and integration. Speaking at the event virtually attended by 168 wards and communes throughout the city, General Secretary Lam expressed his joy in visiting and wishing a happy Tet holiday to Ho Chi Minh City, a city named after the beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
He praised the city as the nation's primary center for economy, culture, science and technology, innovation, and international integration, highlighting its special strategic significance.

Praising the hard work and accomplishments of the local Party organization, administration, and people, the General Secretary acknowledged that in 2025, the final year of the 13th National Party Congress term, Ho Chi Minh City continued to demonstrate its resilience and commitment to innovation and empathy in the face of rapidly changing global and regional circumstances.
The city was able to achieve many impressive outcomes thanks to the effective leadership of the Party organization, adaptable governance of the administration, and strong backing of the business community and residents.
He emphasized that 2026 is a crucial year for Ho Chi Minh City because it will be the 50th anniversary of the city being named after President Ho Chi Minh (1976–2026) and also marks 115 years since the late leader left Nha Rong Wharf to work towards national salvation (1911–2026). He stated that these significant events serve as important historical landmarks and serve as a reminder of the city's duty to uphold its legacy and work even harder to achieve greater success in the future.

The leader of the Party emphasized the importance of following the resolution of the 14th National Party Congress in the coming 5-10 years to meet the objectives set for the Party's 100th anniversary in 2030 and to lay a strong foundation for the nation's 100th anniversary in 2045. He insisted that Ho Chi Minh City should maintain its leading role, serve as a model, and take on challenging tasks assigned by the Party and State to drive growth, innovation, and integration at the national level.
He encouraged the city to fully understand and efficiently execute the resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress, the strategic resolutions of the Politburo, and those of the city's Party Congress for the term 2025-2030. The aim is to simplify the organizational structure, nurture a group of competent and respectable leaders, advance in science, technology, digital transformation, and innovative breakthroughs in various areas such as institutions, infrastructure, and human resources.

Additionally, there is a focus on establishing financial, logistics, and innovation centers on regional and international levels. The General Secretary underscored the importance of enhancing Party building and rectification, fighting against corruption, wastefulness, and negative behaviors, increasing supervision and discipline, and improving mass mobilization efforts, with a focus on the satisfaction and well-being of the people at the core of governance.
During the Lunar New Year celebration in 2026, the General Secretary gave gifts to the Ho Chi Minh City Party organization, individuals from families who benefit from policies, and those who have served the nation in the city.
